Aktun Chen Dry Cave and Jungle Tour
This park is located 4 kilometers south of Akumal, it is unexplored rainforest with area of 988 acres. “Aktun Chen” in Mayan means, “cave with an underground river inside”. It houses the extensive caves in the area, thousands of stalactites, stalagmites and natural sculptures, all of them formed by water and calcium carbonate throughout five million years.
It is open Monday to Sunday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 am; last tour is 4:30 pm. Summer time open hours: July and August opens from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm; last tour is 6:00 pm.
